Activity 5 - Reducing GHG Emissions by Lengthening Short-Season Crop Rotations with Soybean
Activity Lead: Elroy Cober, AAFC Ottawa Research & Development Centre
Activity Description: This activity will advance soybean production for short season environments in Canada through yield enhancement, increases in soybean protein content, and improvements to abiotic stress tolerance (e.g. increasing drought tolerance and other stresses associated with the prairie climate). The advances will include improved new varieties that are N-fixing, well-adapted to a short season environment (MG 000 and 00), high yielding, and early maturing. These varieties may be added in crop rotation with other cereals and oil seeds, particularly in the prairie regions of Canada.
